August 2011--4 years old

Well, our "little" Bella is 4 years old already! Her bday was just Saturday, Aug. 20 and we had a big Mermaid themed party here at our house. There were about 20 kiddos and about 17 adults. Lots of fun and lots of excitement to sat the least. I had a treasure hunt for gold coins and had the kids paint and decorate their own little treasure boxes. Bella had a blast for sure and, mommy and daddy were glad that birthdays only happen once a year! lol.

Thankfully, my mom and Cathy were here to help us with the party. Cathy and the kids arrived Saturday the 13th and my mom arrived the 16th. Everyone left on the 23rd (today) and, now the house is eerily quiet. The kids has a blast together and Cathy and I were able to celebrate our 35th bdays together with some yummy chocolate mousse cake (our official birthday isn't until the 27th). I think it's been 15 years or so since we have been able to celebrate together. Anyway, during their visit, we were able to take a hike up to the mountains with Cathy, us and the kids. We also took everyone to Bear Creek Lake Park and the kids had some fun in the sand and water. We also took the kids to Red Robin and, since Bella and Keegan's birthdays are so close to each other, we had a little birthday celebration for them there complete with yummy chocolate sundaes! They were in heaven! Thanks for everything, Mom and Cathy! We miss you guys already!

As for Rowan, he has officially graduated to a big boy carseat, Bella's convertible car seat. Bella now has a new Britax combination carseat. Right now, she will stay harnessed for as long as possible and Rowan will remain rear-faced for as long as possible. Bella's car seat is a newer design and, therefore, we are limited to 3 designs. We chose the red and black one and call it a ladybug car seat! lol. It works! She loves it!

I'm trying to get Rowan on consistent nighttime schedule and, so, now I won't let him nap past 3pm. He'll be in bed by 630 now, then mommy has time to relax and clean up from the busy day. Bella is, most of the time, in bed by that time as well since she hardly naps anymore. Sometimes she'll fall asleep in the car if we are out and about, but, otherwise, I'll just give her quiet time in her room.

Rowan's been doing well on Goat's Milk for the past few months. We have had our setbacks though, which lasts for a week of getting up mid morning and needing to go number 2. I still log what he eats and it seems, when he eats something that has even a trace of milk, his pooping issues come back. Sometimes we think, "oh that can't have milk in it" and it does, so if we don't know what the ingredients are, Rowan doesn't get to have it. Last week (Aug. 15), Rowan slept well all week long! However, the week before, he was constantly getting up mid morning.

As far as developments, Rowan is trying to say mommy and balloon now, among others. He actually said "mommy" I swear. Too cute! He likes to say "ba" and loves to climb on things. He's a very active little man now! He especially loves to carry things and put things into things and take them out. He's also into books, thankfully, just like Bella. Bella would just sit and "read" all day if she could.
